Epitaphios (Gr. "on the tomb;" Sl. Plaschanitsa) - An ornamented bier representing the tomb of Christ. On God Friday the Epitaphios is placed on the bier, which is adorned with flowers, and is carried in a procession representing the funeral of Christ.
Description: This is a brand new Epitaphios (approx. size: 48" x 31 1/2") made of dark-ruby cotton velvet (a high quality material) with embroidered verses in Slavonic and religious ornaments. This winding sheet is adorned with images depicting saints, the Evangelists and scene with burial of Christ. This epitaphios (Burial Shroud of Christ) is trimmed with golden metallic-thread galloons and fringes. Each winding sheet is unique and completed upon request. It is made following the long-established Orthodox traditions.
