Antimens (Antiminsion)

ANTIMENS or ANTIMINSION (Gr. and Lat. compounds "in place of a table;" Sl. Antimins) - A rectangular piece of cloth, of linen or silk, with representations of the entombment of Christ, the four Evangelists, and scriptural passages related to the Eucharist. The antimens must be consecrated by the head of the church and always lie on the Altar Table. No sacrament, especially the Divine Liturgy, can be performed without a consecrated antimens.
Description: This is a brand new Antimens (Antiminsion) (approx. dimensions: 20 1/2" x 17"). It is a rectangular piece of white cloth, with full-color stamped representations of the entombment of Christ, the four Evangelists, and scriptural passages related to the Eucharist, bordered with ruby satin lining. Back side is made of ruby satin lining.
